Winner of the Last Girl Champion Award and a Child Protection Ambassador for Save the Children India, Nandana Dev Sen will take you through the compassionate and conversational poems of her mother, Nabaneeta Dev Sen, in Acrobat. The collection of poems speaks to womanhood, intimacy and the body politic that together evokes the arc of an extraordinary life. The collection includes many new translations by Nandana Dev Sen that encapsulate her mother’s work. This conversation will be led by critically acclaimed film director and screenwriter Deepa Mehta.

Poems will be read in English and in Bengali.

এই অনুষ্ঠানে শোনা যাবে সেই লেখকদের কথা যারা তাদের বেস্ট সেলিং বইয়ের জন্যে আন্তর্জাতিক দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। টরন্টো আন্তর্জাতিক লেখক উৎসব তাদের  ‘অন্য ভাষায় বিশ্ব’ পর্বে উপস্থাপন করতে চলেছে বিশেষ আয়োজন যেখানে লেখকেরা তাঁদের নিজেদের সেই ভাষায় পাঠ করবেন যে ভাষায় তাঁরা বিশ্বজুড়ে স্বভাষার বিশাল জনগোষ্ঠীর সাথে সাথে  টরন্টোর পাড়ায় পাড়ায় প্রতিনিধিত্ব করেন।  লাস্ট গার্ল চ্যাম্পিয়ন এওয়ার্ড এবং চাইল্ড প্রোটেকশন এমবাসেডর ফর দ্য সেইভ দ্য চিল্ড্রেন ইন্ডিয়া পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্ত লেখক নন্দনা দেবসেন শ্রোতাদের নিয়ে যাবেন তাঁর মা নবনীতা দেবসেনের সহানুভূতিপূর্ণ কাব্যিক সংলাপ অ্যাক্রোব্যাট-এর ভেতর দিয়ে। এই কাব্যমালা নারীত্ব, অন্তরঙ্গতা এবং শরীরি রাজনীতির ব্যবচ্ছেদ করে অনন্য এক জীবনের জয়গান করে। মায়ের সাহিত্য-ভাবনাকে ধারণ করে নন্দনার করা এমন অনেকগুলো অনুবাদ রয়েছে এই সংকলনে। নন্দিত চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাতা দীপা মেহতার পরিচালনায় এই পর্বে বাংলা ও ইংরেজি উভয় ভাষা থেকে কবিতা পাঠ করা হবে। উল্লেখ করা যেতে পারে দীপা মেহতা তাঁর ‘আগুন’ (১৯৯৬), ‘মাটি’ (১৯৯৮) এবং ‘জল’ (২০০৫) অর্থাৎ ‘এলিমেন্টস’ সিনেমা ট্রিলজির জন্যে বিশেষভাবে খ্যাত।
